The city of God’s Mercy is build on top of a great rock, suspended in midair by four massive interlocked chains, which are attached to North Island to the north and New Island to the south. Twelve-hundred people live in the city, which has more brothels and taverns than any other city in Gallows Sound. Once every six months, the city is lowered into the sea in what is known as the Cleansing. The Cleansing has both a symbolic significance in cleansing the city of its sins and a pratical purpose of clearing the city streets of dirt and human waste. (Illustration by Wanted Hero)
